Architect
Ernst Sagebiel, 1882 – 1970

With the neoclassical rebuilding of the Tempelhof airport as of 1934 by the architect Ernst Sagebiel, all requirements of a modern major airport were organised in an architectural form for the first time, including separate functional levels for arrival, departure, airmail and airfreight. The steel and reinforced concrete structure was covered by veneers with partially solid work pieces of Cannstatt travertine natural stone.
